What makes The Amazing Race amazing?

I just watched one of the promos for the new season of The Amazing Race, and I think it perfectly exemplifies why this show is so great.

It isn't the thousands of miles travelled.

Or the exotic countries you visit.

It isn't the exhaustion or the exhilaration.

It's not the unexpected turns in the road.

Or even the million dollar prize.

Its 2 ordinary people at a starting line with nothing but the whole world in front of them.
